Visual Perception

How the brain interprets visual information

Visual perception is the process of interpreting the information gathered from vision but happens in the cortical areas of the brain.  It is how the brain processes the millions of bits of information gathered every second.  It is vital to every aspect of a child's ability to learn to read, do math, do puzzles and perform daily life skills.  Occupational therapy and neuro-visual therapy are often needed for a child with delayed visual perceptual skills.  These children are often confused by right vs. left, reverse letters like b,d,p,q,m,w and may have a label of Dyslexia.  Neuro-visual therapy can help these children and adults gain the skills to overcome these delays!
