Vestibular Balance TestHow good is your Balance?
Try these activities: *How long can you stand on one foot? *Which foot did you use first to stand on? (this shows your leg dominance which should be the same as your hand, eye, ear!) *Can you do the same amount of time with your eyes closed as open? *Why is it harder with your eyes closed to stand on one foot?
Did you know? Most children over 5 yrs can stand on one foot for 10 seconds with eyes open and closed. It is harder to stand on one foot with your vision taken away because you then rely on just one sensory system, your vestibular system to tell you where you are in space! Using the eyes and vestibular system together helps you do it longer! But, if you have a good working vestibular system, then it won't matter if your vision is occluded! | Related Topics: |
